// F.R.E.D. — Field Ready Engaged Defender

Robots that
think out loud.

F.R.E.D. is an autonomous ground patrol robot that perceives, reasons, and reports in natural language. No app. No console. Just questions and answers.

// 01 Subject

A small patrol robot doing a different job.

F.R.E.D. is the first model from PatrolForce Robotics. It's built on a rugged off-road chassis, runs ROS 2 on a Raspberry Pi 5, and integrates a custom cognitive layer that lets the operator talk to it instead of programming it.

It's designed for perimeter patrol, infrastructure inspection, and observation tasks where understanding what the robot sees and decides matters as much as the action itself.

// 02 Technology

Three things most patrol robots don't do.

01

Conversational Autonomy

Fred narrates what it sees, what it decides, and why. Operators ask questions in plain language and get plain answers — no console, no command syntax.

02

Visual Augmentation

Before reasoning over an image, Fred overlays scale, depth, and surface cues so the cognitive layer sees what a trained eye would see — not just pixels.

03

Predictive Trajectory Overlay

Before moving, Fred renders the path it intends to take onto its own field of view — letting it validate the plan visually before committing to it.

// 03 Architecture

Qualia — a cognitive bus, not a chat wrapper.

Under the hood, Fred runs on Qualia — a custom cognitive architecture where perception, memory, emotion, and reasoning are independent modules that communicate over a single internal bus.

This separation is what makes the robot's behaviour inspectable, replaceable component by component, and scalable to multi-robot coordination. It's also what makes the conversation feel real instead of scripted.

// 04 Origin

Built in Madrid. EU-aligned supply chain.

PatrolForce Robotics is a European company. Our hardware is sourced from European and allied suppliers, our software is developed in-house, and our roadmap is set by us — not by a parent group on another continent.

For defense, critical infrastructure, and security customers who can no longer take supply-chain sovereignty for granted, that's not a marketing line. It's an operational requirement.
